Our Worst Nightmare

Could the Zombie Apocalypse really happen?

Many of us really wonder if zombies could actually exist in reality and for millions of people, this is our worst nightmare. Watching the television is one of my major hobbies and ever since I was a kid, watching zombie movies was really my favorite and even until now. This also might be the reason why I dream about zombies most of the time. But who in this world would want a real zombie show up and tear his or her body apart and eat whatever organs it could possibly get? If you are, then you are really stupid. It's only fiction--- at least for now.

We might not expect someone who has the credentials or guts to take zombies seriously but it turns out that the undead are a great way to explore real-world health issues. What could be a possible reason for a person to become a zombie? As you've seen from the movies, it is indeed a virus that could transform you into a "flesh-eating freak".

If it happens, how will you kill a zombie? For most of zombie movies, they knock them down through shots to the head that for Dr. Steven Schlozman, a child psychiatrist who holds positions at Harvard Medical School and the Massachussetts General Hospital/McLean Program in Child Psychiatry, is because the brain stem governs the most basic functioning: breathing and heartbeat. But as we've seen, individual symptoms of zombies do correspond to real ailments and if they all came together, the disease would be creepily efficient at claiming bodies, Schlozman said.

But even if we know how to kill zombies, we are really not very good at killing them fundamentally and basically they'll just win and keep on reproducing. The best solution is to plan a strategic attack rather than "every man for himself" defensive instinct. It would take knowledge and intelligence which zombies don't really have to survive. If you are a human being with super powers, perhaps you don't need to worry about this but it is just another fiction in our lives.

Let's just hope that everything goes fine and continue praying.
