A Superhero Dream

Being a superhero to escape from doing the household chores

Ever dreamed about becoming a superhero one day? If yes, you might actually know that there are certain possibilities of danger behind every superhero dream. But it's really fun to be one isn't it? Imagine yourself saving the world, fighting against every villain you encounter and defeating them with the power you possess. Bam! It's so amazing!

Sometimes every time I walk at the streets, I feel like doing what Superman usually do before getting into battle or before saving a citizen, a damsel in distress and whatsoever. I imagine myself ripping my shirt and begin to expose my Superman suit. I'm a huge fan of Superman ever since I was a little boy. I just wish to become like him but apparently that wouldn't happen. People might think that I'm stupid about the idea but I simply can't stop dreaming about becoming a Superhero.
.
.
.

(I bet you also dreamed of becoming one. Admit it!)

The only thing that I might find difficult when I become one is about hiding my identity. I might not tell my parents that I'm a superhero (unless they are also superheroes). They are really gonna freak me out. They might let me do all the household chores which I hate doing and if that happens, I might just fly away and leave the job to them and never come home (that's how lazy I am).
.
.
.
I don't have any ideas of how to end this but let me just tell share a quotation which a man named Grant Morrison told:

“Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

Our Worst Nightmare

Could the Zombie Apocalypse really happen?

Many of us really wonder if zombies could actually exist in reality and for millions of people, this is our worst nightmare. Watching the television is one of my major hobbies and ever since I was a kid, watching zombie movies was really my favorite and even until now. This also might be the reason why I dream about zombies most of the time. But who in this world would want a real zombie show up and tear his or her body apart and eat whatever organs it could possibly get? If you are, then you are really stupid. It's only fiction--- at least for now.

We might not expect someone who has the credentials or guts to take zombies seriously but it turns out that the undead are a great way to explore real-world health issues. What could be a possible reason for a person to become a zombie? As you've seen from the movies, it is indeed a virus that could transform you into a "flesh-eating freak".

If it happens, how will you kill a zombie? For most of zombie movies, they knock them down through shots to the head that for Dr. Steven Schlozman, a child psychiatrist who holds positions at Harvard Medical School and the Massachussetts General Hospital/McLean Program in Child Psychiatry, is because the brain stem governs the most basic functioning: breathing and heartbeat. But as we've seen, individual symptoms of zombies do correspond to real ailments and if they all came together, the disease would be creepily efficient at claiming bodies, Schlozman said.

But even if we know how to kill zombies, we are really not very good at killing them fundamentally and basically they'll just win and keep on reproducing. The best solution is to plan a strategic attack rather than "every man for himself" defensive instinct. It would take knowledge and intelligence which zombies don't really have to survive. If you are a human being with super powers, perhaps you don't need to worry about this but it is just another fiction in our lives.

Let's just hope that everything goes fine and continue praying.

Injury-prone

Ever had an injury before? Were you pissed off? Have you ever thought of giving up? For athletes like me, it's just another usual thing that may happen during an exciting game or event in your life that became a tragic one and could have ruined your whole athletic lifestyle. Whether you are playing for the neighborhood championship or the NBA title, you can get injured.

I started playing basketball since I was a kid and my whole career has been pretty tough. This particular sport has brought many challenges to me and really tested my motivation and strife for playing.  I had the chance to join the varsity team when I was in high school, got scolded during training camps, played for the intramurals, got fouled, got fouled out, made crucial free throws, missed free throws, missed and made shots and lastly the one thing that really messed up my time and reason for playing: I got injured for several times.

Last month I injured my right ankle because I accidentally landed on a player's shoe which made my ankle clicked and bended awkwardly ( just like the first picture above). At that moment, I felt numb and I sat on the floor pretending that I was not seriously hurt but the people saw the pain through my eyes and my face trying to tell them to help me stand up and sit me down somewhere comfortable and let me catch my breath. I also realized that it was the same accident that happened to me before and it was actually the same ankle that was injured two years ago.

After the game, I asked someone else to buy an ice for me and help me walk my way home. When we arrived, I hurriedly took off my shoe and noticed that my ankle was swollen and immediately told my mom about the incident and apparently, she got mad because that day was supposed to be my preparation for the opening of classes for the next semester and obviously I couldn't go to school.

Few hours later, my parents decided to take me to the hospital and let the doctor see if there was a broken bone, fracture or whatsoever. Fortunately, there was none and the doctor said that there was just a sprained ankle. I felt really bad for myself because the injury has made my parents pay for my own stupid fault. Yes it was an accident but I couldn't blame the accident for how much my parents spent that night.

Injuries sometimes give me doubts on whether I should continue playing or just simply quit to avoid the danger behind basketball. My parents are also against it too. I understand the fact that they are just worried about me but I'm just the type of person that does not want to give up in any situations that I know somehow it can be fixed until everything goes fine once again. I just want to say that giving up is not the solution and it is also difficult to leave behind something you really love and has been attached to you ever since your childhood.

People might say that I'm weak, fragile, and prone to injuries but being one doesn't make me stop from doing what I really love to do.

Kevin Salvador: The Dog Spoiler

  Make every moment your last

Perhaps the man in this picture looks very familiar for some, and yeah! It is Cesar Millan of the reality TV show "The Dog Whisperer" together with his dog a.k.a. "assistant", Daddy. This pitbull had really helped Cesar during its time and really been influential worldwide because of its remarkable obedience, loyalty, and trustworthiness. Yes, this dog died two years ago and it really surprised me. Even right now, I still can't get over it.

Watching everything he did together with Cesar Millan really inspired me to become a responsible and good pack leader. Patience and disciple are the keys to become like it.

But sometimes, looking at a dog's innocently adorable face makes you feel different in a way that you will do whatever it takes to give whatever he or she wants(which includes giving the dog hundreds of kisses, countless pampering, thousands of dog treats, letting it bite and lick your fingers, and for a dog spoiler, you name it) and make it play with you all the time no matter how disobedient they become with you doing these crazy things. In other words, this is how I treat dogs. I spoil them in my own little ways.. :D

Woody

And here's a picture of my dog named Woody. Isn't he adorable? :) Everyday before I leave the house, I make it sure that I'll be able to kiss and carry him before I go to some place else. That's the way we say our goodbyes. We make each day just like the last day of our lives.

Woody and I at the park
I just want to remind everyone that dogs are really worth taken care of and they also do the same way to us. That from the moment we got them, they have already loved us. That in every time we get mad and even yell at them, we do not realize that they have already forgiven us by just simply staying with us no matter how hard and hurtful for them to see us doing that. They can only live in this world for just 10 to 15 years and they couldn't be with us for a lifetime and grow old with us. Is it too much for us to love someone we could only be with for just a while?

So please love your dogs and take good care of them. Make every moment with them your last. :)
